Festival of Trees 2012

We will be performing Sunday, November 27th at 1pm. Come enjoy the holiday spirit, see Santa, look at the beautiful Christmas trees and support the An Daire dancers!

Fall Term Begins!

Fall term begins on Wednesday, September 7th!! Remember to bring your monthly tuition and yearly registration. We will be preparing for the Boise Feis, so be sure to come to class!! New students are welcome any time....the first class is FREE!

Class will be held Monday, August 15th beginners at 2pm, advanced at 3:30pm. Tuesday class has been cancelled.

Fall schedule will be available soon, along with a new web-based calendar. Classes will remain on Wednesdays. Stay tuned for more information!

Class for the week of June 19 will be held on Monday, June 20th with Jim Mueller, ADCRG....beginners/advanced beginner class will be held from 2-3pm and advanced class will be held from 3-4:30pm. Please attend this rare opportunity to work with Jim!

Tuition fees will change during July and August....there will be $10 drop-in fee each week instead of the monthly tuition. Of course, if you would like to pay for the entire month at the first class, you can!

SLC Feis

Congratulations to Brittinei Nielson, Shannon Nielson, Amy Bowman and Erin McDonald on competing and placing at the first annual SLC feis this past weekend in Sandy, Utah! Everyone brought home some hardware!! Job Well Done!! You make us proud!!!

Summer classes

Classes will continue to be held at the regular times during the summer. July and August classes will be $10/week instead of the monthly $50 fee. This will enable families to take time off for vacation. We will resume normal operating procedures in September. If you are interested in competing in the Boise Feis in September, be sure to be in class over the summer to continue preparing for this competition!

Keep checking here for information on fun group activities over the summer. We are working on a day at Roaring Springs, Hawks baseball and a summer picnic/party!

Spring classes beginning!

Spring classes will resume on April 6th. Beginner classes are held on Wednesdays at 4:30-5:30pm. Advanced classes are 5:30-7pm. Ceili classes are held on alternate Wednesdays at 7pm, starting April 6th.

Holiday performances

Come celebrate the holidays with the An Daire dancers at Festival of Trees on Sunday, November 28th at 1pm.

We will also be at Barnes and Noble in Boise on December 5th at 2pm for a free holiday performance. Support the An Daire dancers while getting some Christmas shopping done by mentioning the dancers at checkout. A portion of all sales will benefit the school.

We have 3 of our dancers participating in "Contrary To Popular Belief" Songs and Dances from the Celtic Lands to Appalachia" at Shangri-La Tea Room & Restaurant Shangri-La on Friday October 8 at 7:00. Admission is "suggested donation". Please come and support our dancers and the local Celtic arts community.

St. Patrick's Day may be over, but Irish American Heritage Month continues! An Daire will continue to celebrate by performing at the Idaho Stampede game Saturday, March 20 - game starts at 7:00, performance is at half-time.

Our spring term starts April 8 - new dancers are welcome, age 5 and up - including adults!

And looking forward to summer days - our Boise summer workshop is scheduled for July 29-31.

Governor Otter Signs Irish Heritage Proclamation

Today Governor C.L. "Butch" Otter declared March as "Irish American Heritage Month" in Idaho. With him for the ceremony were dancers from the An Daire Academy of Irish Dance, who danced for the governor after the signing ceremony. You can see a video clip from KBCI Channel 2 in Boise here.

We helped celebrate Sacred Heart School's 50th with some reels and jigs. Rumor has it that in the 1980's the first organized Irish Dance school lessons in Boise, perhaps even Idaho, were actually taught at Sacred Heart School, so were were happy to be part of the celebration.

We had lots of performances today, but still found time to hit the Mall! If you still have some shopping to do, remember Barnes and Noble is running a fundraiser for An Daire Boise until March 17 - just mention our dancers when making a purchase. We have a day of rest, then back at it for our bit day - St. Patrick's Day on Monday. Our dancers will be at the Ha' Penny on Monday at 6:00 pm, if you can't make it, listen to the festivities on KBOI 670. Don't forget the green!

Finally March has arrived! The An Daire Academy of Irish Dance students in Boise are polishing their shoes and practicing their steps in anticipation of our flurry of upcoming performances.

To get us in the mood, we are listening to a great CD of Irish music by a local Treasure Valley Traditional Irish Band - An Buille http://anbuille.com/. Their CD is available locally at Wee Bit of Scotland and at The Shamrock Coffee Company. They will be playing at The Shamrock Coffee Company on Monday March 17, 7:00 pm. What a great way to celebrate St. Patrick's Day.
